My Take on the Zone of Comfort

It’s cozy like a cold winter day, when the fire is blazing in the fireplace, and you are wrapped in a warm blanket, snuggled on the couch with a hot beverage, enjoying the peace and serenity of the moment.

When all at once a spark flies out of the fire, onto the floor, as you leap from your perch, flinging comfort long and wide over your shoulder to stop the spark from erupting into a full blown flame.
Once the crisis is averted, you climb back onto the couch, grabbing your blanket and attempt to calm yourself and get jiggy with the zone of confort once again.
Yet the irony is, life is always going to spark. Especially in those times we least expect it. And in that moment we will take a leap of faith, but once everything is hunkey dory and back to normal, we will turn our back, to enter the cage we have willingly created around ourselves.

The problem with constantly retreating to the zone of comfort is you will end up stuck and fear will become so unrecognizable, it will cause a slow demise of your spirit.
Then when Death comes knocking, you will be screaming and kicking in resistance as Death reminds you, ‘You had a life. You had a chance. Now it’s too late because your time is over.’
The cure?
Befriend fear. Hug it. Smother it with love. Take its hand and drag it along with you.
Then step by step and leap by leap, journey into the unknown, as you vigorously wave goodbye to the zone of comfort.
And as you travel, embrace all the obstacles and challenges and accomplishments with heartfelt excitement and wonder, instead of laying stones laden with excuses.
Even if you fail, you can be proud that you made the jump.

And when Death does call you, you can leave this earth with no regrets because you lived a life where your spirit soared and your fear kept you steady.
