Lessons Learned in 2016

  1. Death is inevitable but it will never conquer love.
  2. Regret and guilt will eat you alive.
  3. Sorrow is needed to fully appreciate the gifts of hope and joy.
  4. People will disappoint, God never.
  5. Being related by blood doesn’t necessarily constitute a family.
  6. Forgiveness may be good for the soul but it’s our human right to choose not to forgive so we don’t forget and allow those who have wronged us back into our lives.
  7. Often God places good friends into our lives as substitutes for those family members whom we are estranged from.
  8. Caring for the one who cared for us is not only the ultimate sacrifice but also the ultimate gift.
  9. You always have a choice, no matter the circumstances. You just have to leave your comfort zone.
  10. Being single and divorced is better than being in a relationship just because others think it’s time.
  11. Being content where you are in life and who you are is the best way to incorporate peace.
  12. Laughter is the best drug to not only relieve stress but also anxiety and blues of the spirit.
  13. Strength comes from faith, a positive attitude, belief in your self and the gumption to never back down or quit.
  14. What a difference a day, a week, a month and a year can make.
  15. Reflect not on your failures but on your accomplishments so your life stays on track.
  16. To me, God is the greatest therapist and He doesn’t charge a fee.
  17. Being present in someone’s life is often more important than words.
  18. Not obsessing in front of the boob tube makes for a healthier state of mind.
  19. Designating one day or one weekend a month to spend it doing whatever you want is a great way to revive the doldrums of the soul.
  20. Kindness ensures love never ceases to make the world go round.
  21. Love means saying sorry even if you don’t think the other person deserves it.
  22. Every day is a new page in the story of your life.
  23. There is no closure nor getting over grief. There is only taking one day at a time to learn to live in the space death leaves the living with.
  24. Asking your self – did I love enough, laugh enough and make a difference? – at the end of each day will help towards living a life where complaints become null and void, optimism takes over and the world becomes a much better place.

Blessings on this, the eve of the Newest Year, Annie

  1. These lessons are so wonderful! The one that spoke tome most was “To me, God is the greatest therapist and He doesn’t charge a fee.” Last year i spent a lot of time seeing counselors and got no real peace from it. spending time with God made me feel much better than any session ever did for me.
i hope 2017 brings you more life changing lessons, and that God gives you a peace that surpasses all understanding to handle anything this year brings because he is with you.
